CURCY – Multi Currency for WooCommerce is a currency converter plugin for WooCommerce, which allows you to display prices and accept payments in multiple currencies. The plugin can detect customers’ countries and languages, and apply prices in their native currency. It is also convenient for users to switch between different currencies using a currencies bar to find their preferred currency among the available options.

Important Update: The plugin settings have been integrated directly into WooCommerce > Settings (instead of a separate menu item) for a more seamless and unified management experience.

THE PLUGIN FEATURES

CURRENCY OPTIONS

The plugin is flexible with many currency options for front-end display and exchange rate management:

  • Auto-update exchange rate: Automatically update exchange rates at set intervals: every 30 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 1 week, or 1 month.
  • Successful update exchange rate email: Receive a notification email whenever exchange rates are updated successfully.
  • Set the exchange rate manually: Manually set and override exchange rates according to your needs.
  • Exchange fee: Add permanent exchange fees to exchange rates to cover processing fees or bank exchange rate differences.
  • Price formatting: Customize the position and format of currency symbols.
  • Custom currency symbol: Customize currency symbols (e.g., United States Dollar can be displayed as USD, US$, $, etc.).
  • Fixed Price: Set custom fixed prices in different currencies for individual products, overriding calculated exchange rate prices.
  • Hidden Currency: Hide specific currencies from being displayed on the front-end.
  • Select currency exchange rate server: Fetch live exchange rates from VillaTheme.com, Google Finance, Yahoo Finance, TransferWise, Cuex, Xe, and more.
  • Data storage method: CURCY supports 4 storage methods — Cookie, Session, WooCommerce Session (beta), and Transient (beta) — ensuring optimal compatibility with different server and caching setups.
  • Currency Price Switcher: Displays a switcher directly under product prices, allowing customers to quick-switch prices between currencies.

AUTO-DETECT CURRENCY

WooCommerce Multi Currency can automatically detect customers’ native currency based on their country or language.

*Important: Please note that auto-detect country features may not work properly with websites/servers that use aggressive caching. Please try out the free version to test compatibility with your site.

  • Detect currency based on customers’ country: Automatically detects customer country via IP address and displays prices in their local currency (applies at country level, not state/province).
  • Currency by country: Assign specific currencies to be displayed to visitors from specific countries.
  • Approximate Price: Displays product prices in the site’s default currency while showing an approximate price in the customer’s native currency right below it.
  • Auto-select currency based on Polylang language: Automatically matches currencies to Polylang site languages (e.g., display GBP on English pages and EUR on Spanish pages).
  • Auto-select currency based on WPML language: Automatically matches currencies to WPML site languages.

CHECKOUT CURRENCY

CURCY allows you to configure specific currencies for the checkout process.

*Important: To display a payment gateway on the checkout page, that gateway must support your store’s default currency. (e.g., If your default currency is ZAR, PayPal cannot be enabled even if Multi-Currency converts ZAR to USD on the front-end, because PayPal does not natively support ZAR).

  • Allow multi-currency payment: Enables customers to complete purchases in their selected currency (requires payment gateways that support the selected currency).
  • Selected check-out currencies: Display prices in multiple currencies throughout the store while restricting final checkout payments to specific accepted currencies.
  • Display payment methods based on currency: Dynamically show or hide payment gateways on the checkout page based on the active currency.
  • Checkout Currency on Cart page: Automatically switches the currency on the Cart page to match the designated checkout currency.

PRICE FORMAT

Set rules to display clean and attractive “beauty prices” on the front-end:

  • Accept lower bound: Apply beauty price rules to both lower and upper bound prices (disabling applies rules to upper bound prices only).
  • Add rules: Set custom rules to format price numbers on the front-end (e.g., rounding to .99 or .00).

SHORTCODES & DESIGN

  • Shortcodes: Built-in shortcodes to display currency switcher widgets and exchange rate tables anywhere on your site.
  • Currencies bar design:
    • Customize currencies bar title (default: “Select your currency”).
    • Set bar position (left or right) and customize colors/backgrounds.
    • 5 visual styles: Currency code, Currency symbol, Flag, Flag + Currency code, Flag + Currency symbol.
    • Collapse mode: Minimizes the bar into a compact icon that expands on hover.
  • Conditional tags: Control which pages display the currencies bar using WordPress and WooCommerce conditional tags.
  • Custom Flag & CSS: Upload custom flags and add custom CSS to fully tailor the styling to your theme.
